Hi! We're P.R.I.D.E: People Rallying In Defense of Equality.
We make up one of Chatham County's first GSAs (gay-straight alliances) and one of the largest clubs at Northwood High School. We promote equality of the races, sexes, and classes, but most predominantly between genders and sexualities. Our mission is to eradicate transphobia, homophobia, and any other anti-LGBTQ+ action and promote love, open-mindedness, and respect among our homes, schools, and communities.
The first interest meeting for P.R.I.D.E was at the end of the school year in 2014. Today, we have over thirty members and a prominent influence in our school and county. In 2015, many of our members were featured in the queer art show "What I Wish They Knew" in Siler City, and in 2016, we successfully campaigned for the adoption of all-gender restrooms by the school administration.
We meet every Friday in Room 507 from 3:20 to 4:20. Everyone is welcome! Look for upcoming events under the Calendar tab.
